Increased sales resulting from the addition of 10 new states to the game earlier this week prompted the Multi-State Lottery Association, which administers the Powerball game, to increase the jackpot estimate for the upcoming Wed., Feb. 3 drawing. The jackpot for Wednesday was previously estimated at $107 million.
Tickets for the Feb. 3 drawing can be purchased until 9:00 p.m. (CT)/8:00 p.m. (MT) on Wednesday from nearly 600 retailers across the state. Lottery Executive Director Norm Lingle reminds players to play responsibly when purchasing tickets for Wednesdays draw.
Jackpots of this size are exciting not only for players, but for retailers and the Lottery as well. We want people to have fun but we also encourage them to play responsibly; it only takes one ticket to win, Lingle said.
Powerball is now played in 41 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
