Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket to hit stores April 8th
Two winning traditions – the Boston Red Sox and the Massachusetts State Lottery – have teamed up again to produce an extraordinary new instant ticket and a tour of both World Series Championship trophies.
The Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket, a $20 instant ticket, and the Championship Tour promise to excite as much as a David Ortiz walkoff home run. The milestones represent the latest joint venture for the Massachusetts State Lottery and the Red Sox as the two premier organizations deepen their marketing relationship while continuing to explore future opportunities.
“Just like we deliver local aid to our 351 cities and towns, we are proud to bring both World Series Trophies closer to thousands throughout Red Sox nation, Treasurer Tim Cahill said. “As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I am thrilled to bring the Championship Tour to our communities.
The Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket features more than $160 million in prizes, including huge grand prizes, game tickets, unique trips and never before available memorabilia. The Championship Tour, which follows in the footsteps of the Red Sox/Lottery 2004 Trophy Tour, will feature the 2004 and 2007 World Series Trophies and make 30 regional stops across the Commonwealth.
“We are proud of our relationship with the Massachusetts State Lottery, and happy to partner again with the Lottery and Scientific Games to introduce a new Red Sox-themed instant ticket, said Mike Dee, Red Sox Chief Operating Officer. “This limited edition ticket will not only give Red Sox fans opportunities to win special experiences and collectible memorabilia but will also bring great benefits to towns and cities throughout the Commonwealth.
The Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket will be available in stores April 8 and will join the Lotterys two other extremely successful and popular Red Sox tickets. Red Sox 2006, a $5 ticket, has sold $173 million and raised $27 million for local aid while Red Sox 2007, a $10 instant ticket, has sold $212 million and raised $26 million for local aid. The Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket, which features a printing of 10 million tickets, is expected to raise $23 million in local aid.
“We now have the triple crown of tickets, Lottery Executive Director Mark Cavanagh said. “The Red Sox instant tickets are a big part of the Lottery portfolio and a key component in raising funds for police, firefighters, teachers and other essential municipal services.
As part of this agreement, the Massachusetts State Lottery will have greater visibility around Fenway Park. Lottery signs will be near both dugouts and take a more prominent position in the outfield, on the Red Sox bullpen fence. Lottery products also will be available in five vending machines throughout Fenway Park.
The Limited Edition World Series Red Sox Instant Ticket, which will be available at 7,500 agents statewide, hits the market during a record year for the Massachusetts State Lottery. Sales have increased by more than 6 percent from last year and 3.5 percent from the previous top year.
