Dover DE -- A 70-year-old Wilmingtonman has claimed a $100000 prize from the Saturday August6 2005 POWERBALL drawing. The retired widower had hiswinning ticket validated this morning at the Delaware LotteryOffice in Dover. The winner who wishes to remain anonymouswas awarded a check for $75000 which represents his $100000prize minus federal taxes.
The winner purchased his ticket generated by Quick Pickfrom Books and Tobacco Inc. on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington.He told Lottery officials that he plays POWERBALL asoften as he can. He learned he was a winner when he returnedto Books and Tobacco Inc. to purchase additional lotterytickets and checked his ticket for the August 6th drawingafter seeing a sign in the store announcing their winningticket sale. When Lottery Officials asked his plans for thewinnings the winner replied that he plans to save the moneyuntil he needs it.
