Connecticut Lottery

Connecticut has the following lottery games in the state: Powerball, Cash 5, Classic Lotto, Lucky 4 Life, Play 3 Day, Play 3 Night, Play 4 Day, Play 4 Night, and various Scratch Games.

In fiscal year 2008, the CT Lottery provided $283.0 million to support the valuable services and programs funded by the states General Fund including public health, libraries, public safety, education and more. Since our start of operation in 1972, the Lottery has returned more than $6.4 billion to the General Fund.

The Lottery, by statute, is designated as an enterprise fund. As such, the agency receives no tax money from the state General Fund for its operations. Instead, the Lottery is self-supporting and operates in accordance with a budget approved by its Board of Directors on an annual basis.

The Lottery realizes its obligation to players extends beyond creating new games and generating revenue for the state. For most people, Lottery tickets are a form of entertainment, but for some, playing the Lottery can be a problem.

As part of a statewide awareness program -- the first of its kind in Connecticut -- the Lottery is an active participant in efforts to help educate consumers on problem and underage gambling as well as promote responsible play, and contributes $1.5 million annually to help prevent and treat problem gambling. Our initiatives put people first, and have helped the public to maintain its trust in our actions.

As we focus on the future, our purpose will remain the same as it has always been. We will provide a variety of fun and entertaining games and will create products to maximize our revenue return to the states citizens. Managed by Multi-State Lottery Association.
