LOTTO JACKPOT GROWS TO $8.5 MILLION

DENVER The Colorado Lotterys $8.5 million Lotto jackpot would help make Fathers Day especially happy. The jackpot the largest since September 2008 hasnt been hit since Feb. 27 2010 when a Denver resident took home a $6.7 million jackpot. The cash value of the $8.5 million jackpot is $4.25 million.

The Colorado Lottery has had 388 Lotto winners since launching the Lotto jackpot game in 1989. The largest jackpot on record is a $27 million prize won in March 1992

Lotto drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at approximately 735 p.m. The probability of winning the jackpot is one in 5245786. The winning numbers are selected using an automated drawing machine which randomly generates the winning numbers.

Proceeds from the Colorado Lotterys games Lotto Powerball Cash 5 Scratch MatchPlay and Mega Millions stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. The Lottery has returned more than $2.2 billion to the state of Colorado since it was established. Through Great Outdoors Colorado the Conservation Trust Fund and Colorado State Parks the Lottery has provided funding for new trails precious open space and wildlife protection.
