DENVER - Most of us can use a little extra cash around the holidays. For Steve Miller 45 of Thornton that little extra cash turned into more than a million dollars. Thats because he was the only person to match all six numbers in the $1.9 million Lotto drawing held on Wednesday December 8th. The winning combination was 3-16-28-36-41-42.
Ive played Lotto off and on since it began¯ said Miller. However recently Ive been more consistent. I have been feeling lucky lately so I buy 10 Quick Pick tickets every week. It was just a feeling I had and Im glad I followed my instincts.¯
The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven store at 3901 E. 112th in Thornton. Miller chose the Annuity Option and received his first check for $48434 ($34389 after tax withholding). The final payment in 2028 will be worth $115853 ($82256).
Im a pretty simple guy¯ said Miller. You always dream about what you would do if you win. Now that I have Im not sure what Im going to do. Im a native of Colorado and have always wanted to go to Hawaii. Now that I have some extra cash sitting on the beach for a while during the long winter months sounds kind of nice.¯
In addition to a possible trip to the tropics Miller who owns an automotive repair shop in Thorton says he would like to spend some of his winnings paying back his parents for all the support they have given him over the years. He also says he will continue to work and keep his life as normal as possible.
