Mega millions jackpot climbs to $330 million

PHOENIX (Jan. 3 2011) –The jackpot for Mega Millions Arizonas newest multistate game has climbed from $12 million to $330 million. This is the highest Mega Millions jackpot since Arizona joined the game in April of last year. The jackpot reached an alltime high of $390 million in March 2007.

Three players in Arizona won $250000 prizes in Friday nights Mega Millions draw. The winning tickets were purchased at a Frys Food Store in Queen Creek a Circle K in Avondale and a Circle K in Peoria.

In the last week alone there have been close to 90000 Mega Millions winners in Arizona.

“I cant imagine a better way to kick off the New Year than with a high Mega Millions jackpot” said Jeff HatchMiller executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “We love having winners from Arizona and encourage everyone to play responsibly.”

Mega Millions costs $1 per ticket. Players select 5 out of 56 numbers then select 1 out of 46 for the Mega Ball number. Players can also pay an extra $1 for a Megaplier that multiplies winnings excluding the jackpot up to four times the original amount. Any player who purchases the Megaplier option and matches all 5 of the white ball numbers will automatically win $1 million. Drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays. The game is played in 41 states and Washington D.C.
